Feeder Cattle Auction Report for 3/21/2018

Receipts:  472    Week Ago:  964    Year Ago:  1158

   Based on limited comparisons with last week, feeder steers under 600 lbs
steady to 5.00 lower, over 600 lbs not well tested. A light test of heifers 
were 2.00-6.00 lower. Slaughter cows 6.00-8.00 lower. Supply light. Near 30
percent of the offering were cows and 20 percent of the feeders were over 
600 lbs. Feeder supply approximately 58 percent steers and bulls and 42 percent
heifers. The cattle market is pretty good and really bad all at the same time 
with good demand and stable cutout values on one hand while on the other the 
board remains in full retreat of expected burdensome spring/summer fed supplies  
with August live cattle closing Wednesday at 105.27.  

   Feeder Steers: Medium and Large 1  300-400 lbs 203.00-226.00; 400-500 lbs
194.00-206.00; 500-600 lbs 161.00-187.00; 600-650 lbs few 152.50-154.00. 
Medium and Large 1-2  350-400 lbs 200.00-209.00; package 495 lbs 187.00. 
Large 1  535-635 lbs 140.00-151.00; small package 750 lbs 132.00. 

   Feeder Heifers: Medium and Large 1  300-400 lbs 158.00-174.00; 400-500 lbs
144.50-163.00; 550-600 lbs 134.00-138.50; 700-800 lbs 122.00-127.75. Medium 
and Large 1-2  300-350 lbs 155.00-165.00; 600-700 lbs 127.00-128.25. Medium and
Large 2  small package 405 lbs 138.00; Large 1  small package 655 lbs 125.75.
Medium 1-2  390-420 lbs 142.00-146.00. 

   Feeder bulls: Medium and Large 1-2  390-410 lbs 171.00-184.00; small package
555 lbs 152.00; 600-650 lbs 134.00-143.50.

   Medium and Large 1, short and solid, 1300-1500 lbs, second stage 800.00-
910.00 per head. 

   Cow and calf pairs: Medium and Large 1-2, 2-6 years, 875-1475 lbs, some bred
back in the first stage with 125-325 lb calves 1500.00-1650.00 per pair.
