Return to Farm Holstein Calves: Compared to last week the Holstein Bull
calf market retreated slightly on the account of weather. A mix of rain, snow
and cold temperatures moved through the area Thursday afternoon and buyers
adjusted their bids to account for a greater potential for sick calves.
Number 1 calves trended 20.00 lower, number 2 calves 50.00 lower, and number
3 calves 100.00/cwt lower. Demand was moderate to good as buyers still needed
to fill orders despite poor transport weather. Heifers sold weak on light
demand. Ag Market News LLC under the USDA-QSA-LMAR program graded 515 head
for Thursday's sale. All calves are sold by the cwt.
