Weighted Average Auction Report of Canton, Mount Airy, Norwood, Siler City for the Week 
Ending Thursday Jan 30, 2014. ***Turnersburge prices were not available due to absence of 
reporter and the North Wilkesboro and Smithfield sales were closed this week due to 
inclement weather.***

Cattle Receipts:  4065          Last Week:  6234          Last Year:  3281

Compared to last week, feeder steers were mostly 4.00 to 9.00 lower, bulls mostly 3.00 to 
6.00 lower and heifers steady to 3.00 higher. Slaughter cows, breaking type were 1.50 to 
6.00 higher, boning type were steady; slaughter bulls were steady to 4.00 higher. Demand 
was moderate to good, with quality being mostly average. Offerings were moderate overall, 
but several markets were closed due to inclement weather.

Slaughter cows made up 17 percent of the offering, slaughter bulls 3 percent, replacement 
cows 2 percent, other cows 0 percent, and feeders 78 percent.  The feeder supply included 
38 percent steers, 40 percent heifers, and 22 percent bulls. Near 16 percent of the run 
weighed over 600 lbs.
