Weighted Average Auction Report of Siler City, Canton, Turnersburg, North 
Wilkesboro, Norwood, Shelby, and Smithfield for the Week Ending Thursday Feb 25, 
2016

Cattle Receipts:  4073    Last week:  2041    Last Year:  1465  

Compared to last week, slaughter cows were mostly steady to 3.00 higher; while 
slaughter bulls were steady to 4.00 higher.  Feeder steers were 1.00 to 5.00 
higher, bulls were mixed and heifers were mostly 0.50 to 5.00 higher. Demand was 
mostly moderate; market activity and buyer interest were moderate.  Offerings of 
cattle were moderate.  Cattle quality was plain to average.

Slaughter cows made up 19 percent of the offering, slaughter bulls 2 percent, 
replacement cows 5 percent, other cows 1 percent, and feeders 72 percent.  The 
feeder supply included 32 percent steers, 41 percent heifers, and 27 percent 
bulls. Near 20 percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs.
