Weighted Average Auction Report of Canton, North Wilkesboro, Norwood, Shelby, Siler 
City, Smithfield and Turnersburg for the Week Ending Thursday Sep 1, 2016

Cattle Receipts:  4002          Last Week:  3694              Last Year:  3557

Compared to last week, slaughter cows were steady to 3.00 lower, bulls 2.00 to 3.00 
lower. Feeder steers were mostly 6.00 to 9.00 lower, bulls mostly 9.00 to 10.00 lower and 
heifers were mostly 2.00 to 8.00 lower. Feeder and live cattle futures continued to be 
lower this week. Demand was light to moderate with slow to moderate buyer activity. 
Offerings were moderate and quality ranged from plain to average. 

Slaughter cows made up 16 percent of the offering, slaughter bulls 2 percent, 
replacement cows 3 percent, other cows 1 percent, and feeders 78 percent.  The feeder 
supply included 31 percent steers, 39 percent heifers, and 29 percent bulls. Near 26 
percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs.
