Weighted Average Auction Report of Siler City, Canton, Turnersburg, Shelby, Mt. Airy,
North Wilkesboro, Norwood and Smithfield for the Week Ending Thursday Sep 14, 2017
Cattle Receipts: 2878 Last Week: 2687 Last Year: 4252
Compared to last week, slaughter cows were 3.00-6.00 higher, slaughter bulls unevenly
steady. Feeder steers and heifers were mostly 1.00-3.00 lower, bulls mostly 3.00-6.00
lower. Demand and market activity was moderate. Offerings were light due to rain from
Hurricane Irma. Quality ranged from plain to average.
Slaughter cows made up 17 percent of the offering, slaughter bulls 2 percent,
replacement cows 3 percent, other cows 0 percent, and feeders 78 percent. The feeder
supply included 29 percent steers, 38 percent heifers, and 33 percent bulls. Near 29
percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs.
