Weighted Average Auction Report of Canton, Siler City, Turnersburg, Mount Airy, 
Shelby, North Wilkesboro, Norwood, and Smithfield for the Week Ending 
Thursday, February 01, 2018

Cattle Receipts:  3691          Last week:  3119          Last Year:  5263

Compared to last week, slaughter cows were unevenly steady, 2.00 lower to 2.00 
higher; bulls were steady to 2.00 lower.  Feeder steers were mostly steady to 
9.00 higher; bulls were mostly 1.00 to 6.00 higher; and heifers were mostly 
steady to 4.00 higher.  Demand was moderate to good; market activity and buyer 
interest were mostly moderate.  Offerings of cattle were light to moderate.  
Cattle quality was plain to average.

Slaughter cows made up 17 percent of the offering, slaughter bulls 2 percent, 
replacement cows 3 percent, other cows 0 percent, and feeders 78 percent.  The 
feeder supply included 32 percent steers, 40 percent heifers, and 28 percent 
bulls.  Near 21 percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs.
