Weighted Average Auction Report of Siler City, Turnersburg, Mount Airy, Shelby, 
North Wilkesboro, Norwood, and Smithfield for the Week Ending Thursday, 
February 15, 2018.  Canton was closed due to inclement weather.

Cattle Receipts:  3611          Last week:  3123          Last year:  4187

Compared to last week, slaughter cows were mostly steady to 2.00 higher; while 
bulls were unevenly steady, 3.00 lower to 3.00 higher.  Feeder steers were 
mostly steady to 5.00 higher; bulls were unevenly steady, 4.00 lower to 4.00 
higher; and heifers were mostly steady to 4.00 higher.  Demand was moderate to 
good; market activity and buyer interest were mostly moderate.  Offerings of 
cattle were mostly moderate.  Cattle quality was plain to average, few 
attractive.

Slaughter cows made up 14 percent of the offering, slaughter bulls 2 percent, 
replacement cows 2 percent, other cows 1 percent, and feeders 81 percent.  The 
feeder supply included 35 percent steers, 41 percent heifers, and 24 percent 
bulls.  Near 17 percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs.
