Weighted Average Auction Report of Siler City, Canton, Mount Airy, Shelby, 
North Wilkesboro, Norwood, and Smithfield for the Week Ending Thursday,
May 17, 2018.  Turnersburg cattle receipts were approximately 980 head; prices 
were not available due to absence of the reporter.

Cattle Receipts:  3241          Last week:  5607          Last year:  3626

Compared to last week, slaughter cattle were mostly steady.  Feeder steers were 
steady to 6.00 lower; heifers were steady to 4.00 lower; and bulls were 3.00 to 
6.00 lower.  Demand was mostly moderate; market activity and buyer interest 
were moderate.  Offerings of cattle were light to moderate due to heavy rains 
throughout the trade week.  Cattle quality was plain to average.

Slaughter cows made up 15 percent of the offering, slaughter bulls 3 percent, 
replacement cows 3 percent, other cows 0 percent, and feeders 78 percent.  The 
feeder supply included 28 percent steers, 45 percent heifers, and 28 percent 
bulls.  Near 20 percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs.
