Weighted Average Auction Report of Siler City, Turnersburg, Mount Airy, Shelby, 
Norwood, and Smithfield for the Week Ending Thursday, May 31, 2018.  Canton was 
closed in observance of the Memorial Day holiday and North Wilkesboro was 
closed due to inclement weather.

Cattle Receipts:  3043          Last week:  4036          Last year:  2963

Compared to last week, slaughter cows were mostly steady to 5.00 higher, while 
bulls were mostly steady to 3.00 lower.  Feeder steers and heifers were mostly 
steady to 3.00 lower, while bulls were mostly steady to 4.00 higher.  Demand, 
market activity, and buyer interest were moderate.  Offerings of cattle were 
moderate.  Cattle quality was plain to average.

Slaughter cows made up 18 percent of the offering, slaughter bulls 3 percent, 
replacement cows 4 percent, other cows 1 percent, and feeders 75 percent.  The 
feeder supply included 32 percent steers, 40 percent heifers, and 29 percent 
bulls.  Near 20 percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs.
