Weighted Average Auction Report of Siler City, Turnersburg, Mount Airy, Shelby, 
Norwood, and Smithfield for the Week Ending Thursday, September 06, 2018.  
Canton was closed on Monday, September 03, in observance of the Labor Day 
holiday.  North Wilkesboro receipts and prices were not available due to 
absence of the reporter.

Cattle Receipts:  3174          Last week:  3977          Last year:  2687

Compared to last week, slaughter cattle were mostly steady.  Feeder steers were 
unevenly steady; bulls were mostly steady to 6.00 lower; while heifers were 
mostly steady to 3.00 higher.  Demand was mostly moderate; market activity and 
buyer interest were moderate.  Offerings of cattle were mostly light.  Cattle 
quality was mostly average.

Slaughter cows made up 15 percent of the offering, slaughter bulls 2 percent, 
replacement cows 2 percent, and feeders 80 percent.  The feeder supply included 
43 percent steers, 37 percent heifers, and 19 percent bulls.  Near 26 percent 
of the run weighed over 600 lbs.
