Weighted Average Auction Report of Siler City, Canton, Mount Airy, Shelby, and 
Turnersburg for the Week Ending Thursday, October 11, 2018.  Cattle receipts 
for Norwood on Wednesday, October 10, totaled approximately 658 head, however 
prices were not available due to absence of the reporter.  Receipts and prices 
for North Wilkesboro on Wednesday, October 10, were not available due to 
absence of the reporter.  Smithfield was closed on Thursday, October 11, due to 
inclement weather from Hurricane Michael.

Cattle Receipts:  3753          Last week:  4174          Last year:  4808

Compared to last week, slaughter cattle were mostly steady to 5.00 lower.  
Feeder steers and heifers were unevenly steady, while bulls were mostly steady 
to 5.00 lower.  Demand, market activity, and buyer interest were moderate.  
Offerings of cattle were mostly moderate.  Cattle quality was plain to average.

Slaughter cows made up 13 percent of the offering, slaughter bulls 2 percent, 
replacement cows 2 percent, other cows 0 percent, and feeders 82 percent.  The 
feeder supply included 37 percent steers, 38 percent heifers, and 26 percent 
bulls.  Near 27 percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs.
