Weighted Average Auction Report of Siler City, Canton, Turnersburg, Shelby, 
North Wilkesboro, Norwood, and Smithfield for the Week Ending Thursday, 
January 31, 2019

Cattle Receipts:  3595          Last week:  3179          Last year:  3691

Compared to last week, slaughter cows were mostly 2.00 to 4.00 higher and bulls 
were mostly 3.00 to 4.00 higher.  Feeder steers and bulls were mostly steady to 
6.00 higher; heifers were mostly steady to 3.00 higher.  Demand was moderate to 
good; market activity and buyer interest were mostly moderate some active.  
Offerings of cattle were light to moderate due to unseasonably cold 
temperatures again this week.  Cattle quality was plain to average.

Slaughter cows made up 19 percent of the offering, slaughter bulls 3 percent, 
replacement cows 2 percent, other cows 1 percent, and feeders 75 percent.  The 
feeder supply included 33 percent steers, 41 percent heifers, and 26 percent 
bulls.  Near 15 percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs.
