National Sheep Summary for Week Ending Friday, January 24, 2014

   Weekly Trends:  Compared to last week slaughter lambs were steady to
as much as 20.00 lower, with most decline at San Angelo, TX.  Slaughter
ewes were steady to 9.00 lower.  Feeder lambs were weak to 10.00 lower.
At San Angelo, TX 3957 head sold in a one day sale.  No sales in Equity
Electronic Auction.  In direct trading slaughter ewes were not tested;
feeder lambs steady.  5,000 head of negotiated sales of slaughter lambs
were steady and 10,400 head of formula sales of carcasses under 55 lbs
were not well tested; 55-65 lbs were 5.00-7.00 higher; 65-75 lbs were
3.00-4.00 lower; 75-85 lbs were firm; 85-95 lbs were 4.00-5.00 higher
and no test on over 95 lbs.  5,729 lamb carcasses sold with 45 lbs and
down 13.17 lower; 45-55 lbs 1.58 higher; 55-65 lbs 3.85 higher and 65 lbs
and up .27-1.52 higher.  All sheep sold per hundred weight (CWT) unless
otherwise specified.

totaled 42,000 compared with 41,000 last week and 36,000 last year.
