National Sheep Summary for Week Ending Friday, August 29, 2014
Weekly Trends: Compared to last week slaughter lambs were steady to as
much as 30.00 higher, mostly 10.00-20.00 higher; except in Pennsylvania
which was 10.00 lower. Slaughter ewes were steady to 5.00 higher. Feeder
lambs were steady to 6.00 higher. At San Angelo, TX 8533 head sold in a one
day sale. Equity Electronic Auction sold 142 slaughter lambs in Nebraska.
In direct trading slaughter ewes not tested and no comparison on feeder
lambs. 6900 head of negotiated sales of slaughter lambs under 170 lbs were
steady to firm and 7000 head of formula dressed sales under 55 lbs no
comparison; 55-65 lbs 1.00 to 2.00 lower on light trading; 65-75 lbs were
7.00 to 10.00 lower; 75-85 lbs 4.00 to 5.00 higher; 85-95 lbs no trade
reported. 5,659 lamb carcasses sold with 45 lbs and down 9.90 higher; 45-85
lbs 0.99 to 2.19 higher; 85 lbs and heavier 3.59 higher. All sheep sold per
hundred weight (CWT) unless otherwise
specified.
